Pressed on stunning heavyweight marble vinyl, this double album showcases Jethro Tull’s stunning concert at the Stadthalle Freiburg, in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, on 30 April 1982, during the Broadsword Tour.
Jethro Tull’s lineup at the point consisted of Ian Anderson (vocals, flute, guitar), Martin Barre (guitar, mandolin), Gerry Conway (drums), Dave Pegg (bass, mandolin, vocals) and Peter-John Vettese (keyboards, vocals). Anderson and company work their way though a stellar set that bridges their then latest material with their breakthrough hits that made Jethro Tull one of the biggest bands of the 1970s.
Things especially heat up when Pegg and Conway (both formally of Fairport Convention) launch into The Swirling Pit, a traditional Celtic drinking jig. The show ends with a powerhouse triple punch: Aqualung, Minstrel in the Gallery and Locomotive Breath.
This superb live performance was broadcast across the airwaves on the King Biscuit Flower Hour.
